Closing the Technology Access Gap with a Bring Your Own Device Program

Picture
Teachers have been crying out for BYOD access for years.  Palm Springs Unified has recently decided to implement a BYOD Program in response to the state budget crisis and the realization that school sites will have very little room in their budgets to purchase new technology.  At the district level, BYOD is limited to teachers.  However, there are three classrooms in the district, mine included, that are piloting a student-centered BYOD program.  Our job is to develop effective device management systems, write lesson plans that are device agnostic, and see just transformative we can make our BYOD implementation.
