Instant Word Collages

Wordle is a super fun Web 2.0 tool that allows students  to instantly create visually engaging word collages.  There are a variety of ways to integrate this Internet-based word tool into your lesson.  Here are a few examples:
  • Use this tool in any subject to create collages of curriculum (content) vocabulary or academic vocabulary.
  • Language Arts: Use this tool to create a collage of words that are classified as a particular part of speech.  You could also have your students write a summary of a text, then copy and paste their summary into the Wordle generator to get a more creative take.
  • Social Studies: Have students brainstorm a list of words to describe a historical figure's background, important contributions, etc. 
  • Science: Create Wordles to express the structure of a cell, describe a process, or share results in a creative way.
  • Math: Create Wordles of various careers in which math is used in everyday life, or just make a Wordle of all the activities adults do that involve math.
