Today's Meet is a fabulous Web 2.0 tool that allows collaboration both inside and outside of the classroom. There are countless ways to integrate this Internet-based chat into your lesson. Here are a few examples:
Establish one room for each class period. As you teach, ask students to enter opinions/comments/questions at various points during the lesson. This could be a powerful opportunity for the more reserved students in your class.
Establish multiple rooms for each class period. Allow students to collaborate in Today's Meet as they work on other assignments. Note: Make sure you establish tech-use parameters and expectations.
Establish a room for reader's response as students read through a selection in class. Encourage students to post thoughtful responses to the opinions of others.
Provide a quote from the text and ask students to discuss in Today's Meet.
Provide the answers to several math problems, then ask students to prove or disprove the answers. Have them share their findings in a Today's Meet room, and ask them to cite evidence to support their finding.
