Web 2.0: Edmodo

One of my favorite Web 2.0 tools, I use Edmodo with my students every week.
Go to the Edmodo website.

Engage with Edmodo

There are many benefits to using Edmodo in the classroom, including:
  • Safe, academic social networking
  • Students can not directly post to one another, but they can directly post to their teachers
  • All collaborative conversations are structured in groups the teacher creates, which means the teacher can monitor them for appropriateness
  • Students can upload files into a digital locker for easy document storage and retrieval
  • Teachers can build collections of digital class resources accessible to all students
  • Students can respond to assignments teachers post
  • Teachers can efficiently grade student work online

There's an App for That!

In addition to being accessible on the web, Edmodo has an app for iOS and Android.  Now students can access their Edmodo accounts via an iPod, iPad, iPhone, or Android device.  This is fantastic for the BYOD movement, and super convenient when at-home assignments are given.
