Website Creation Using WeeblyDesigning a website is an excellent way for your students to publish their essays, share project-based learning, or provide information to the community based on a long-term research project. Weebly is also perfect for teachers to use when making a classroom website, and especially when flipping their content. (For more information on flipping content, please see "Flipped" on the site menu.)
The user-friendly interface of Weebly allows students to build and edit with ease. Students may work on different pages as part of a single site, or they could design entire sites in groups. When you sign up for a Weebly educator's account, you automatically get 10 student sites attached to your account for free. Most of the features on Weebly are available for free, though a pro upgrade is only about $40 per year and totally worth it from a teacher's standpoint - especially if your students generate a lot of their own multimedia content. All sites are assigned a subdomain of Weebly to use as an address, though you could also attach a customized domain name to your site. I recommend purchasing your domain name separately from GoDaddy for around $10. The only drawback to purchasing your domain name from somewhere other than Weebly itself, is that you'll have to complete all of the routing yourself as opposed to having Weebly do it for you. (Trust me, domain routing is much easier than it sounds and Weebly provides comprehensive instructions for how to do it when purchasing a domain from GoDaddy.) |
